A super time was had at the Women, Infants and Children’s “Super Food for Super Heroes” event Thursday afternoon.
Women, Infants, and Children is a national program that provides nutritious foods and nutrition education for low-income families with pregnant, postpartum and breastfeeding women, infants and children. This includes infants and children up to the age of 5. In addition to these services, WIC Manager Diana Moore says WIC also acts as a referral for other community organizations to help cover the complete scope of health and wellness.
The activities of the WIC Fair included breathing exercises, guessing games, face painting, and education on healthier food options for children. The event also played host for booths from community partners such as Crosswinds Counseling and Wellness, the Emporia Public Library, UnitedHealthcare, Aetna and many more.
If you were unable to attend the fair and would still like information, WIC holds a bi-monthly clinic at the Coffee County Courthouse. For more information on WIC services and eligibility requirements visit KansasWIC.org, call 342-4864 or visit the Flint Hills Community Health Center Monday-Thursday between 8 am and 6 pm.
