‘Wear Orange Day’ is just around the corner and Moms Demand Action has some activities planned to commemorate the day dedicated to gun safety awareness.
Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in Emporia is the local chapter of the national organization. Their goal is not to take away gun rights, but to ensure the safety of everyone from senseless gun violence.
‘Wear Orange Day’ was conceived after a teenage girl was killed due to gun violence. Connie Hudson of Moms Demand Action talks about the tragedy that led to the day’s conception.
The ‘Wear Orange Day’ celebration begins on Saturday at 11:30 am at Peter Pan Park in Emporia. Admission is free and there will be music, games, desserts, and a few guest speakers. Wear orange attire Saturday to show support for gun safety. Anyone interested in joining the group can text JOIN to 64433 or visit momsdemandaction.org.
