The David Traylor Zoo hauled in a large crowd for their Annual “Stroll & Show” event Friday evening.
The annual event highlights the zoo’s wildlife under cooler weather conditions in the hopes of providing visitors a chance to see some of their favorite animals during their more active hours. Friday’s event was jungle themed with a showing of the “Jungle Book” after dusk for the children to enjoy. The event also included guessing games, matching sounds to jungle animals, classroom interactions with animals as well as singing and dancing led by Mobilizing Literacy.
David Traylor Zoo Outreach Coordinator Michelle Sagers says the zoo’s mission is to educate the public on conservation and preservation of wildlife. Sagers says the screening of the “Jungle Book” is a great way to promote that mission amongst children.
Sager’s goes on to speak about the educational experience of the event and highlights the opportunity for children to decorate leaves to put on the education center tree. She says this allows the children to leave their own personal mark at the zoo. To learn more about the David Traylor Zoo, visit their website at https://visitemporia.com/place/david-traylor-zoo/
