An Emporia woman is dead after a traffic accident in Missouri.
The Mexico, Missouri, Department of Public Safety says Laura Ingold, 34, was on the US Highway 54 bypass in Mexico, Missouri, when her car went left of center around 2 pm Monday and hit the trailer of an oncoming semi. Ingold was extracted from the car and airlifted to a hospital in Columbia, but she was pronounced dead there.
The semi driver refused medical treatment. The wreck overturned the semi and completely shut down the bypass for nearly three hours afterward.
The Mexico Department of Public Safety is investigating the crash.
