Lyon County Commissioners have taken several requests under consideration following their weekly action session Thursday.
Flint Hills Technical College President Dr. Dean Hollenbeck and Vice President of Instruction Steve Loewen requested $58,460 for new equipment. The requested funding will help provide new equipment for FHTC’s Health and Human Services Division.
This is the first request specifically for equipment funding from FHTC to the County. Dr. Hollenbeck says as many FHTC students are from the county, and tend to stay after graduation, this is not only an investment in the college but the county as well.
If approved, the new equipment will include:
Three hospital beds
Two digital vital sign machines
One Hoyer lift with sling
Two #2 digital sensors
One child advanced cardiac life support manikin
Six sets of CPR monitor manikins
Six sets of baby manikins
Thirty-two airway heads
Four overhead light fixtures for above the bed lighting
Additionally, commissioners continued to hear 2020 budget requests Thursday. North Central-Flint Hills Area Agency on Aging Director Julie Govert Walter presented the request of $218,000.
Govert Walter says the funds will be broken down into two groups.
She says the partnership with the Lyon County Commission has been very beneficial and feels the county has an abundance of confidence in the services being provided by the area agency. The 2020 budget will be finalized in August at which time the 2020 allocations will be announced.
In other business, commissioners overheard the proposal of construction for a walking track at the Lyon County Fairgrounds. The proposal was made by Healthier Lyon County with funding being provided through their Blue Cross Blue Shield grant. Commissioners have taken the item under consideration and will revisit the item at a later time.
Four executive sessions also took place. The Lyon County Commission will reconvene for their weekly action session next Thursday at 8 am inside the Lyon County Courthouse.
