Preliminary hearings are now on the docket for two men accused of aggravated armed robbery earlier this month.
22-year-old Daniel McClead and 36-year-old Gustavo Perez-Garcia had first appearances in Lyon County District Court Thursday. McClead and Perez-Garcia both now have preliminary hearings scheduled for July 17. McClead is set to appear at 9:30 am. Perez-Garcia is scheduled to appear at 10:30 am.
Both men face three sets of aggravated robbery and conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery charges. The charges stem from three alleged robberies, including Casey’s General Store on South Commercial on both June 5 and June 9 as well as Angelina’s Fashion store on June 9.
According to court documents provided to KVOE News an employee of Angelina’s Fashion told police she was speaking with a customer, believed to be Perez-Garcia when an individual believed to be McClead entered the business. The witness then says the individual believed to be McClead allegedly lifted his shirt brandishing a handgun and told the employee “he wants the money.”
Court documents also allege McClead took over $200 in cash and $8 worth of cigarettes during the June 5 robbery of Casey’s. McClead also allegedly took $96 in cash and $58 in cigarettes during the June 9 robbery of the same Casey’s location.
Perez-Garcia was arrested Monday while McClead was arrested Tuesday. Ty Wheeler has been appointed to represent McClead while Steve Atherton has been appointed to represent Perez-Garcia.
