The Detroit Tigers out scored the Kansas City Royals 3-2 Wednesday night.
It was another game of missed opportunties for the Royals. They were 2 for 10 with runners in scoring position and stranded 11 base runners.
Jorge Soler was 2 for 5 and drove in both runs for the Royals.
The Royals and Tigers wrap up their 3 game series Thursday night.
The game will be played in Omaha with first pitch at 7:05. Homer Bailey will be the starting pitcher for the Royals. The game will be broadcast on KVOE 1400AM/96.9FM.
The Royals Wednesday signed their top draft pick, Bobby Witt Jr. the overall number 2 pick in the draft.
Witt signed for the full-slot value of over $7.7 million, it’s the second-highest Draft bonus since Gerrit Cole got $8 million from the Pirates in 2011.
Witt Jr., who turns 19 on Friday, is coming off a banner season for Colleyville Heritage High School in which he hit .500 with 37 extra-base hits in 38 games, including 15 homers, while leading Heritage to the Texas 5A championship.
He is the Gatorade National High School Baseball Player of the Year and was lauded as a rare potential five-tool shortstop by MLB Pipeline entering the Draft.
