Americus Township Library shot for the stars during an educational event for children Friday.
Exploration Place came to Americus as part of their 2019 Summer Library Program. Exploration Place is the “premier science center” in Kansas located in Wichita.
The theme for this year’s program is “A Universe of Stories” and features activities all geared towards space. Friday’s event in Americus featured six learning stations with activities including learning about moon phases, gravity wells, arts and crafts and a stomp rocket station.
Exploration Place educator Patrick Jenkins tells KVOE News the library program is just the tip of the iceberg for programs they offer throughout the summer.
Americus librarian Katie Simmons says events such as this are great for promoting the library.
