The Kansas City Royals won the first MLB game to be played in Nebraska, out scoring the Detroit Tigers 7-3 Thursday night.
Nicky Lopez, who play collegiately at Creighton, started the scoring with his first career Major League home run in the 2nd inning.
Whit Merrifield was 2 for 5 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored.
Homer Bailey was the winning pitcher giving up no runs on 2 hits with 6 strikeouts in 6 innings.
It was the first rubber game win for the Royals since May 30th of 2018 against Minnesota and first series win since sweeping Cleveland in April.
The Royals begin a 3 game series with the first place Minnesota Twins Friday night. Brad Keller will be on the mound for the Royals with first pitch set for 7:10p. The game will be broadcast on KVOE 1400AM/96.9FM.
The Royals Thursday reinstated first baseman Lucas Duda from the injured list and optioned third baseman Kelvin Gutierrez to Omaha.
