After strong thunderstorm activity covered much of the KVOE listening area early Saturday morning, another round is possible again Saturday night.
The Storm Prediction Center has most of the KVOE listening area in a slight risk of severe weather. Hail and high wind are the main concerns, although an isolated tornado can’t be ruled out.
A line of storms prompted a severe thunderstorm watch for Lyon and several surrounding counties overnight, but that was canceled as the storms weakened. Originally, no damage was reported. However, several large tents were downed at the site of the Symphony in the Flint Hills concert outside Bazaar, forcing the postponement of that event from Saturday to Sunday.
The KVOE studios picked up over 0.30 inches of rain from storms and later rainfall. Other totals:
*Emporia Municipal Airport: 0.15 inches
There is a marginal risk for hail and wind Sunday as well.
