Part of the Emporia City Commission’s action meeting Wednesday will be to possibly approve an agreement with Kansas Department of Transportation for a corridor management construction project.
KDOT plans to widen US Highway 50 from two lanes to at least four lanes near road F.
In addition, the commission may accept permanent waterline easements for a project at South Avenue and Prairie Street. The project plans to create a 12-inch waterline to connect to the 10-inch waterline at the city’s landfill then run along South Avenue to connect to the 12-inch water line on Prairie Street.
The commission also plans to cover a mutual release agreement with Star Construction for the hazardous sidewalk program after the recent death of business owner Jeff Herrick.
The meeting is planned to start at 7 pm in the municipal courtroom.
