As the David Traylor Zoo prepares for its annual open house this weekend, Director Lisa Keith is happy to announce they are nearing completion of their long-running capital campaign.
The Zoo’s Oasis Capital Campaign, which began quietly in 2016 and was officially announced in July of 2018, is currently less than $50,000 away from its goal of $4.3 million. The campaign will provide a multitude of updates to the zoo including an updated entrance, expanded parking and new exhibits including a North American river otter exhibit.
Keith tells KVOE construction work is just around the corner.
Keith says the upgrades will be a “game changer” for the zoo and will provide an even better experience for visitors for years to come. The exciting news comes as the zoo prepares to open its doors for its annual Zoo Open House Sunday.
The event allows visitors access to the zoo’s off-exhibit areas. The open house will feature free popcorn, water and activities for children.
The open house will run from 11 am to 2 pm on Sunday. For more information on the open house or the Oasis Campaign visit Emporiazoo.org or contact the David Traylor Zoo by calling 341-4365.
