Whit Merrifield powered the Kansas City offense and the Royals cruised past the Seattle Mariners 9-0, Tuesday night.
Merrifield was three for four, with two home runs and six RBI’s.
The Royals’ offense got to Seattle starter Yukei Kikuchi for six runs over five innings.
Kansas City starter Homer Bailey locked down the Mariners’ offense, pitching seven and two-thirds scoreless innings, surrendering five hits while striking out six.
Kansas City and Seattle wrap up their series Wednesday afternoon with Brad Keller facing off against Seattle’s Marco Gonzales. Pre-game at 5pm, with first pitch at 5:40, on KVOE 1400 AM/96.9 FM.

Last week, the Royals announced the official signing of first round draft pick Bobby Witt Jr, the 2nd overall pick in the amatuer draft.
The Royals are now announcing they’ve signed 26 of their 41 selections. The new signees include: Arizona State pitcherAlec Marsh, selected in the Competetive Balance Round; Oregon St. pitcher Grant Gambrell, picked in the 3rd round; Penn St. pitcher Dante Biasi, taken in the 6th round; and Virginia pitcher Noah Murdock, selected in the 7th round.
Kansas City has now signed their first eight selections, and 14 of the first 15.
