No injuries were reported following a semi rollover on the Kansas Turnpike Saturday morning.
Lyon County Emergency personnel were dispatched to Kansas Turnpike mile marker 110 for a rollover accident shortly before 6:30 am. According to Trooper Jason Ziggler of the Kansas Turnpike Authority, the driver of the semi was travelling northbound when he fell asleep at the wheel causing the semi to enter the north ditch.
The driver then attempted to get back on the roadway and overcorrected causing the semi to roll and land in the ditch. According to Ziggler, the semi was hauling a mixture of concrete and fibreglass which spilled out during the accident.
The driver was not injured in the accident, however, the semi had to be towed from the scene. The driver’s name has not been released.
