The Kansas City Royals could not hold onto an early lead as they fell 8-7 to the Minnesota Twins Friday night.
The Royals opened the scoring in the first with three runs thanks to a double by Cheslor Cuthbert and a hit by Hunter Arteaga. The Royals would give up the lead as Minnesota managed runs in the second and fifth to tie the game 3-3 before another three-run inning would put the Royals back on top 6-3.
Unfortunately, a combined five runs through the seventh and eighth innings would see the Twins take the lead and never look back holding the Royals to just one run in the eighth. Royals starter Jakob Junis gave up just two earned runs with eight strikeouts in six innings.
The Royals and Twins continue their series this afternoon with Danny Duffy getting the start for Kansas City against Minnesota’s Jose Berrios. Pregame set for 12:30 first at 1:15 on KVOE 1400 am and 96.9 fm.
