Severe weather wasn’t around long Saturday evening but still managed to make an impact locally.
Current rain totals:
KVOE Studios: 1 inch
Emporia Municipal Airport: 0.93 inches

The rainfall did lead to the cancellation of final performances for Washunga Days in Council Grove. According to event organizers, the severe weather blew through the area just as the Lazy Wayne Band took the stage and before headliner Parker McCollum was set to perform.
Washunga Days Committee member Jesse Knight tells KVOE News they tried to wait out the rain, unfortunately, “mother nature did not cooperate.”
Despite the disappointing ending and McCollum not being able to perform Saturday, Knight says the weekend was still a success with headliner Cody Johnson bringing in over 6,000 people Friday night.
Chances of severe weather will linger through the remainder of the weekend as the KVOE listening area remains in a slight risk through Sunday.
