The Emporia Senior American Legion Baseball team wrapped up pool play in the Barton County Tournament narrowly defeating Nickerson 9-8.
The Senior Legion got out to a quick 6-1 lead with runs in the first, second and third innings. Nickerson would manage to come within three runs but despite a four-run seventh inning the Senior Legion would manage to hold on for the win.
Post 5 was led offensively by Hayden Baumwart who was 4-5 at the plate with three singles and a double including an RBI in the third. Ethan Garate was the winning pitcher giving up just four runs on three hits with one strikeout in three and third innings.
Post 5 will play the Kansas Cannons in the tournament semi-finals at 11 am Sunday. The championship game is set for 3:30 pm.
