The Emporia Junior American Legion baseball team sweep Garnett in a doubleheader to extend their winning streak to 6 games Monday night.
Post 5 won the first game 9-1. Vance Kinsey was 3 for 3 and drove in 5 runs. He was also the winning pitcher, giving up 1 run on 3 hits with 3 strikeouts in 5 innings.
In the 2nd game Emporia out scored Garnett 12-10. The big inning for Post 5 was a 7 run 4th inning. Wyatt Orender drove in 4 runs in the game.
Bobby Truijillo was 3 for 3 with 3 runs scored. Vance Kinsey was also 3 for 3 and finished the doubleheader going 6 for 6 at the plate.
With the sweep the Post 5 Juniors are 10-11 for the season. Coach Cory Shovick says they are playing with more energy.
The A legion was scheduled to play at Topeka Post 421 Thursday, those games have been moved to July 6th. Coach Shovick is trying to schedule a doubleheader for Thursday.
The Emporia Senior Legion hosts the Kansas Senators Tuesday night. First pitch is set for 6pm at the Trusler Sports Complex.
