Storms may have stayed below severe levels as they moved into the KVOE listening area late Tuesday night, but they caused at least one major hassle for residents of northwest Emporia.
Westar Energy says a lightning strike damaged a power pole around 11:30 pm, shutting off power to around 4,500 customers.
Power was restored by early Wednesday morning. Additional details are pending.
