This year’s Veteran’s Tribute concert will feature not one but two big names in country music.
The announcement was made earlier this week from the Emporia Granada Theatre saying this year’s concert will see Grammy Award winners Crystal Gayle and Lee Greenwood center stage. In terms of getting both performers on board, Emporia Granada Theatre Director Aden Lindholm says all he had to do was mention Emporia is the founding city of Veteran’s Day.
Beginning her career in the 1960’s Gayle has released numerous hit singles including “You never miss a real good thing,” “I’ll get over you,” and “Talking in your sleep.” In 1978 Gayle won the Grammy Award for best female country vocal performance with her single “Don’t it make my brown eyes blue.”
Known for his 1984 patriotic song “God Bless the USA,” Greenwood has released 22 studio albums and 38 singles. Greenwood won the 1984 Grammy Award for best male country vocal performance for his single “I.O.U.”
The Veteran’s Tribute show will take place November 8 at 8 pm. This will be the first time both Greenwood and Gayle have performed on the same stage together.
Tickets are now on sale for Friends of the Granada. Tickets will go on sale Monday for the general public at 10 am.
