A man charged with aggravated battery had his case continued following a hearing in Lyon County District Court Wednesday.
Marcel Thomas Howard Wamser appeared in court for a preliminary hearing on one count of aggravated battery. His case was continued during the hearing so Wamser could undergo a competency evaluation to determine if he is fit to stand trial.
The charge against Wamser stems from an altercation in the Lyon County Jail on May 21 between Wamser and a second inmate. According to court documents provided to KVOE News the second inmate was being released and retrieving property from their cell when Wamser allegedly attacked them.
The documents state Wamser exited his cell and struck the individual multiple times including stomping and kicking the individual in the head 16 times. The documents go on to say the second inmate had several injuries including blood covering his face and left hand as well as lacerations to the bridge of his nose. The individual was taken to Newman Regional Health following the incident.
