A former Chase County Jail staffer accused of illegal sexual contact with an inmate has a preliminary hearing Tuesday.
Maudi McCorgary has a hearing at 9 am in Cottonwood Falls. She was accused of one unlawful sexual relations count and three contraband trafficking counts after allegedly starting an illicit relationship with a Sedgwick County inmate before her employment ended at the jail in February. An investigation determined over 300 phone calls between the two, including some indicating sexual contact and illegal contraband — vodka, tobacco and methamphetamine — from McCorgary to the inmate.
McCorgary is the second Chase County jail staffer to be charged with unlawful sexual conduct in the last year. Courtney White-Dold, charged in September with unlawful relations with another Sedgwick County inmate, agreed to diversion in April.
