The Emporia Energy opened up USA Softball Class C state tournament play with a 13-1 win over the Abilene Attack Friday.
The Energy scored 2 runs in the 1st inning. Added 6 runs in the second and put the game out of reach with 4 runs in the 4th inning. Elleana Bennett drove in 3 runs. Kaylee Thomas drove in 2 runs. Kori Arnold was the winning pitcher giving up the 1 run on 2 hits with 6 strikeouts.
The Energy defeated the Blues 14-2 to win their 2nd round game. The Energy scored 4 runs in the first and 7 runs in the 2nd inning to take a lead they would not give up. Kaylee Thomas drove in 4 runs to led the offense. Kori Arnold and Gracie Gilpin each drove in 2 runs. They will play again at 12:30p at Trusler. A win in the 12:30 game puts them in the Championship Game Sunday.
