The Kansas City Royals out scored the Detroit Tigers 8-5 in their first game back from the All-Star Break Friday night.
Cheslor Cuthbert hit a 2 run home run in the 3rd, Martin Maldonado hit a solo home run in the 7th that broke a 5-5 tie.
Jorge Soler added a solo home run in the 8th.
Bubba Starling in his 1st big league game was 0-3 with a walk and a run scored.
The big scare of the night, Danny Duffy left the game in the third inning after he was hit on his throwing hand by a line drive. X-rays were negative and Duffy is considered day to day with a bruised hand.
Royals and Tigers play again tonight. Brad Keller will be the starting pitcher for the Royals with first pitch at 6:15p.
