The stream advisory in place for the Cottonwood River and nearby tributaries the past few weeks has been rescinded.
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment issued the advisory June 20 after a 36-inch sanitary sewer line and nearby streambank collapsed due to flooding near the South Arundel cul-de-sac. After two sets of temporary repairs were inundated by later flooding, KDHE says repairs are now completed and water samples show no health risk, either for the stream or further downstream.
While the water is deemed safe, KDHE says some connecting streams nearby may still have elevated bacteria levels so residents should avoid those if at all possible.
