The United Way of the Flint Hills’ annual fundraising campaign is now just over a month from formally kicking off.
The formal kickoff will come during a Business After Hours event at the Lyon County History Center on Aug. 22. On KVOE’s Newsmaker segment this week, United Way Director Jami Reever encouraged people to learn more about the drive from United Way staffers, Campaign Chair Ron Thomas and the United Way’s community partners.
Thomas, KVOE’s General Manager and a member of the United Way Executive Committee, says it’s an honor to lead the campaign.
This year’s theme is “Live Local, Give Local.”
With efforts moving towards the start of the official campaign, the United Way is now accepting applications for Community Partners.
Non-profit organizations from Lyon County, all surrounding counties and Woodson County are encouraged to apply, especially if their focus areas are in at least one of five categories:
*Helping children and youth succeed
*Strengthening and supporting families
*Promoting self-sufficiency
*Building vital and safe neighborhoods
*Supporting vulnerable and aging populations
Applications are due Aug. 9 and are available online at www.uwfh.org or by calling Reever at 342-7564.
