The schedule for Emporia’s annual All Veterans Tribute is nearly finished.
Convention and Visitors Bureau Director Susan Rathke says plans are finalizing for the annual Veterans Tribute Show. There will be a lot of the traditional events, including the Quilts of Gratitude presentation, poster and essay contest, Freedom Fest, parade, memorial service, meals and more.
As the Convention and Visitors Bureau finalizes that schedule, the CVB’s advisory board is also taking — and reviewing — grant applications through Aug. 1 for different local and area events. Rathke says the advisory board has a $15,000 line item to help fund events that bring people to town.
Groups and organizations that get grants then track attendance and other items in a follow-up report to the CVB.
