Millbern also says they have had a high number of dog bites reported this quarter, 30 to be exact. She explains this is not necessarily due to aggression, but rather increased interaction.
Medical Support Manager Melissa Smith reports this quarter has been relatively quiet in terms of any rise in specific diseases. However; she does report they have been following up on a previous tuberculosis case.
Smith also reports STD cases have remained steady since last quarter. She explains the summer is often a more “active” time period for individuals.
The report also indicated a year to date total income of $236,950 and a cumulative excess of $752.
In other business, commissioners approved the request from Lyon County Sheriff’s Sergeant Tobey Kelly for the purchase of six 2020 Chevrolet Trucks from Longbine Auto Plaza. Before approving the motion, commissioners first had to rescind the authorization of $171,000 originally intended for the purchase of vehicles through Clint Bowyer Auto Plex.
The county originally intended to purchase the vehicles through Clint Bowyer, however, it was later revealed the business could not meet certain obligations of the agreement, therefore, rendering the contract null and void. Commissioners unanimously approved the purchase and delivery is anticipated to take between 10-12 weeks once the order has been placed.
Additionally, Lyon County Controller Dan Williams sought approval from the commission for the Computer Information Concepts’ annual maintenance fee of $48,595. Williams is planning to present the 2020 budget for publication purposes during the commission’s weekly meeting next Thursday.
Commissioners also approved forms and manual updates presented by HR Director Janice Huffman. The Lyon County Commission will reconvene at 8 am next Thursday inside the Lyon County Courthouse.
