The Emporia man convicted of aggravated kidnapping and related felonies after an incident last fall will spend over 30 years in prison after sentencing in Lyon County District Court on Thursday.
Judge Jeff Larson sentenced William D. Anderson to a total of over 34.5 years in prison. The overall, or controlling, sentence reflects the following convictions:
*Aggravated kidnapping: 23 years, 9 months
*Aggravated battery: 3 years, 7 months
*Aggravated battery: 1 year, 1 month
*Robbery: 5 years, 1 month
*Burglary: 1 year, 1 month
Sentences for theft, drug possession and paraphernalia possession will be served concurrently with the felony sentences. Anderson also has postrelease supervision and lifetime registration as a violent offender.
Anderson was convicted in April on all 10 counts against him after an extended incident in September 2018, where the victim was locked in a dog cage, threatened with knives and had his money withdrawn. The victim was also tattooed during the incident, which ranged from 24 to 30 hours long.
Co-defendant Stacy Steen was sentenced to 12 years in prison after pleading no contest to aggravated kidnapping. Brandon Villa was sentenced to probation for attempted marijuana distribution after being originally charged with kidnapping. Sentencing is July 31 for Ivan Murillo after charges of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated robbery and aggravated battery.
