Preliminary hearings are coming next week for two people accused of breaking into an Emporia jewelry store.
Lesli Cheyenne Fontenot and Nicholas Allen Hall have hearings Wednesday in Lyon County District Court. Both will be at 3 pm.
Both are accused in connection to the Kari’s Diamonds and Bridal on May 16. Hall is currently charged with a single count of burglary, two counts each of theft and criminal damage and single counts of driving while canceled, suspended or revoked and no proof of insurance. Fontenot faces single counts of possessing stolen property, meth possession and paraphernalia possession.
Court documents provided to KVOE News indicate two people broke into Kari’s and stole rings, necklaces and bracelets, although three people — two men and a woman — got out of a blue car in the 1100 block of Scott shortly after the burglary and all three got back in later. The car was found later in the day. Both Hall and Fontenot were arrested shortly afterward. Authorities say both had jewelry in their possession when they were arrested, and Fontenot had meth and a loaded handgun in her purse.
Authorities have not given further details about the second man allegedly involved.
