The Cleveland Indians out scored the Kansas City Royals 10-5 Friday night.
Cleveland scored 4 runs in the 3rd inning after the Royals had taken a 2-1 lead. The Royals scored 3 runs in the 6th inning on a triple by Whit Merrifield to cut the deficit to 6-5. Cleveland scored a run in the bottom of the 6th and added 3 more runs in the 8th to put the game out of reach.
Royals Manager Ned Yost said the pitchers struggled.
The Royals and Indians play again Saturday night. Jakob Junis will be the starting pitcher with first pitch at 6:10. Coverage begins at 5:30.
