The man accused of robbing a convenience store within a block of the Emporia Police headquarters this past winter has been bound over for trial.
Harold Stewart was bound over at the end of a preliminary hearing in Lyon County District Court on Wednesday. Stewart now has a pretrial hearing at 2 pm Aug. 30. The pretrial immediately after a preliminary hearing is significant because it typically results in potential trial dates if cases continue.
Stewart faces one count of aggravated robbery for allegedly stealing money from the Max’s BP convenience store on Feb. 19. Court documents provided to KVOE News indicate a man later identified as Stewart advised the store clerk he had a gun and demanded money from the register. The clerk complied and the man fled.
