The USA Softball 18 B Northern National tournament begins Friday at the Trusler Sports Complex in Emporia.
The Emporia Energy 16 year old team is one of 5 teams playing in the tournament.
The Emporia Energy finished pool play with a 1-1 record.
The Energy were out scored by G2 Heat Henderson out of Salina 6-3. They held on for a 6-5 win over the Lawrence Inferno in their 2nd game.
Gracie Gilpin was the winning pitcher in game 2 for Energy. She also scored 2 runs.
Jessica Filkin drove in 2 runs.
The Energy will next play at 6pm when they will begin bracket play.
In Pool B RC Voltage out of McPherson defeated the Colorado Cougars 6-3 and 11-8.
