Emporia Fire took a motorcycle driver to Newman Regional Health after the motorcycle collided with a pickup near downtown Emporia on Monday.
The wreck happened at Sixth and State shortly before 11 am. The early indications, according to Police Lt. Ray Mattas, are the pickup driver was northbound on State and in the process of turning west onto Sixth. The motorcycle was eastbound and hit the pickup.
The pickup driver was not hurt.
Traffic was blocked in both directions on West Sixth from Constitution to Rural for about 30 minutes. Several law enforcement agencies also responded, including Emporia Police, Lyon County deputies and Kansas Highway Patrol troopers.
