Newman Regional Health had a mixed financial report as part of the Board of Trustees’ monthly meeting Wednesday.
Chief Executive Officer Bob Wright says there was good news with cash on hand increasing and more patients using the Rural Health Clinic aspect of the hospital.
Wright also says the 340B hospital reimbursement program is also seeing growth as it reimburses care for uninsured or underinsured patients.
Not all the financial news was good. The net loss for the month was over $231,000, and the year-to-date net loss is now almost $1.7 million as inpatient, outpatient and overall patient revenues were all lower than projected. Wright says some of those issues date back to this past winter.
The hospital’s emergency department is getting busy as the school year approaches.
