The Emporia AAA American Legion baseball team opened State tournament play with a 4-3 win over Great Bend Wednesday afternoon.
The Post 5 Seniors scored 3 runs in the top of the 7th to earn the win. They scored a run on a bases loaded walk and 2 runs on a throwing error. Coach Anthony Markowitz said they were fortunate to find way to win.
Cade Kohlmeier was the winning pitcher.
The Post 5 Seniors will play Hays in their 2nd pool play game Thursday.
