Lyon County deputies are looking for the person or people who allegedly impersonated law enforcement during two overnight incidents in Lyon County.
Lyon County Detective Sgt. Jacob Welsh says the incidents happened between Emporia and Olpe well before sunrise.
Welsh says volunteer firefighters can have similar equipment on their vehicles, but there were no emergency calls at that time of night. He says cases like this can lead to hazardous situations and reduced public trust.
Law enforcement is looking for a silver passenger car with red-and-blue lights in the windshield area. The car was last seen moving southbound towards Olpe.
If you have information, call the Sheriff’s Office at 341-3205 or Lyon County Crime Stoppers at 342-2273. You can also report online at www.p3tips.com or the P3Tips mobile app.
If you believe a law enforcement stop is not legitimate, call 9-1-1 to report it immediately. Law enforcement agencies have marked and unmarked patrol vehicles, but all personnel will have a badge and ID regardless of whether they are in plain clothes or in uniform.
