Traffic at an intersection near Flinthills Mall was blocked for about an hour after utility poles were taken down Thursday.
The incident happened around 9 am at 15th and Stanton. Emporia Police Officer Todd Ayer says a farm tractor with a tall implement drove through the intersection and pulled down several lines. That, in turn, snapped two nearby utility poles.
No injuries were reported. The tractor was stopped near Prairie Street and Schaefer Way. The driver’s name has not been released.
Westar Energy and Sparklight, formerly known as CableONE, responded to inspect the damage and make repairs. No power outages were reported. Sparklight has not responded to a social media request for more information.
