Deep cleaning continues inside the Emporia Public Library. Work also continues outside the library in advance of sanitary sewer work nearby, and library patrons will have to make an adjustment if they want to drop off books.
The library’s book drop was moved to the edge of the east parking lot so trees could be removed. However, the book drop has been moved again to the alley north of the library near the dumpster. Residents will now have to go through the alley to drop books off until further notice.
Work on the sewers is tentatively set to begin Monday. The library was closed Thursday for its annual maintenance work and will remain closed Friday. Director Robin Newell has said the library should be open for much of the sanitary sewer work unless utilities are shut off. She will join KVOE’s Talk of Emporia on Monday for an update.
