A sold-out gala at Emporia State University’s Webb Hall capped off the tenth annual Denim and Diamonds fundraiser Friday evening.
Local residents, Newman Regional Health staff and administration enjoyed a fun-filled evening of food, bidding and even some lip-synching. Fundraising totals will not be known for the next few days, however, hospital CEO Bob Wright is confident it will be a record year.
Wright attributes the fundraiser’s success to numerous factors, most of all being the hard work of hospital staff and Denim and Diamonds organizers who bring the annual event together. This year’s campaign is raising funds to provide the hospital with new anesthesia equipment.
The evening’s activities included both a live and silent auction, a lip-synch battle amongst members of the Newman staff and a special drawing for a grand prize white diamond ring donated by Kari’s Diamonds and Bridal. The lucky winner of the ring was Sonja Hodges.
