Newman Regional Health will show its support for breastfeeding awareness with a celebration of Breastfeeding Awareness Week on Tuesday.
Breastfeeding Awareness Week happens every year from Aug. 1-7. The dedicated week is used to help educate communities of the major health benefits breastfeeding can provide such as lowering the risk of diabetes, obesity, and infections in babies while also lowering the risk of ovarian and breast cancer in mothers.
NRH Certified Breastfeeding Consultant Gina Slayden talks about one of the more notable benefits of breastfeeding.
NRH will be holding a celebration from 10 am to noon Tuesday outside the breastfeeding clinic on the 4th floor. Anyone is welcome to come to the celebration and it will include refreshments, prize giveaways, and an informational meeting on breastfeeding and the services the clinic does as well.
