Music and arts will fill downtown Emporia later this month as local residents are taken Halfway to Everywhere.
The inaugural music and arts festival presented by Kansas Free For Arts will be held August 31st in downtown Emporia with over 30 performers taking the stage in four separate locations throughout the day. Performances will take on stages located both indoors and outdoors at 7th Avenue, the Emporia Farmers Market Parking lot at 7th and Merchant, The Bourbon Cowboy and Radius Brewing Company.
The 30 bands which will take those stages include a wide range of local and nationally known talents. Kansas Free For Arts Executive Director and co-founder Hank Osterhaut says the national talents include the festival’s two headliners.
On top of the musical performances, residents can also look forward to an abundance of street vendors spread out through the festival area. This will include art vendors, food trucks, fine arts displays and much more.
Osterhaut says Halfway to Everywhere will operate in partnership with another new event happening at the same time. The inaugural No Coast Film Festival will also be taking place at the Granada Theatre. On top of screenings for several independent short films, the festival will feature the midwest debut of “Buckshot,” a feature-length film by Emporia native Joshua Smith.
Both Halfway to Everywhere and the No Coast Film Festivals will take place on August 31st. For more information visit KSFreeforarts.org or Nocoastfilmfest.com.
