With Denim and Diamonds hitting a fundraising record for Newman Regional Health, organizers are already looking ahead.
The two-month effort culminated Friday with the annual gala at Emporia State University’s Memorial Union Webb Hall. The combined total was $107,000, above last year’s mark of $100,000.
Director of Business Development McKenzie Cinelli tells KVOE News everything came together for a successful fundraiser this year, and she’s already looking to a successful event next year.
Newman Regional Health is planning to buy five General Electric anesthesia machines over the next three years. This year’s fundraising total lets the hospital buy two of the machines before the year is out, instead of buying one this year and waiting until next year to buy the other.
5 pm Monday: Denim and Diamonds sets fundraising record
Newman Regional Health celebrated the 10th anniversary of its Denim and Diamonds with record fundraising.
The gala event Friday at the Emporia State Memorial Union Webb Hall culminated two months of events, and all told the series of fundraisers generated $107,000. Last year’s prior high-water mark brought in around $100,000.
Proceeds will buy five General Electric Avance CS2 anesthesia machines to benefit the hospital’s surgery and labor/delivery departments. The machines — costing $50,000 each — will be purchased over a maximum of three years and help the hospital safely perform more than 2,500 anesthetic procedures per year.
Director of Business Development McKenzie Cinelli said it was apparent early on this year would be “a special year” for the fundraiser. She thanked the Denim and Diamonds committee and the community, adding “the amount of money that was raised is a true testament to what our local community hospital means to those that we serve.”
