One man was hurt during a rollover crash near Madison early Sunday.
Greenwood County Sheriff Heath Samuels says the wreck was reported on V-50 Road northwest of Madison shortly after 3 am. The investigation found the vehicle was southbound on a curvy section and the driver, later identified as Austin Buce, approached a 90-degree curve at “a speed which made it difficult to navigate the curve.”
Buce overcorrected, with his vehicle sliding off the road into a ditch. The vehicle then rolled onto its top and stopped on the driver’s side.
Buce, age 25 of Emporia was hurt and trapped, so Madison Fire and Rescue personnel removed him before he was taken to Newman Regional Health via ambulance for treatment. Four others inside were not hurt.
Samuels says the crash is still under investigation and more information may be released later.
Besides deputies and Madison Fire and Rescue, Madison EMS, Eureka EMS and Eureka Fire and Rescue responded.
