Jorge Soler crushed a pair of two-run home runs to power the Kansas City Royals past the Boston Red Sox 6-2, Tuesday night. The win snaps the Royals’ six-game losing streak. Soler drove in Hunter Dozier with a two-run shot in the third inning, then added a two-run homer in the sixth inning — giving the Royals a 6-1 edge. The homers were Soler’s 30th and 31st of the season.
Dozier, who scored on both of Soler’s homers, says Soler has been crushing the ball all season and added it was nice to break the losing streak at Fenway.
Royals’ starter Jakob Junis scattered seven hits over six innings, while striking out four and walking one, surrendering just one run.
The Royals and Red Sox wrap up their series, in Boston, Wednesday night with Glenn Sparkman squaring off against Boston’s Eduardo Rodriguez. Coverage on KVOE 1400/96.9 FM begins at about 6pm, with first pitch at 6:10pm.
