The Emporia AAA American Legion baseball team dropped their first game at the Mid-South Regional tournament, Wednesday afternoon, 5-3 to Post 253 out of Festus, Mo.
Festus scored 4 runs in the first inning. The Senior Legion scored a run in the third and two runs in the fifth, but Festus added a lone run in the sixth to cap the scoring.
The Triple-A will look to avoid elemination at 1pm Thursday against Hastings Five Points Bank.
Markowitz says they still have something to play for.
In the days’ other games: Coweta, OK defeat Texarkana 2-0; Fremont, NE beat Sedalia, MO 8-2; and Bryant, AR outscored Hastings, NE 3-2.
