An apparent mechanical issue led to Tuesday night’s injury accident in Reading.
Lyon County Deputy Zach Shafer says Seth Matthews of Reading was working on a motor home in the 400 block of Franklin when the vehicle rolled on top of him shortly after 7:30 pm. The motor home apparently went out of gear right before the accident.
LifeSave airlifted Matthews to KU Med for treatment. His condition has not been released.
10 pm Tuesday: Man hurt after camper rolls on top of him
One man has been airlifted from Reading to Kansas City, Kansas, for medical treatment after an accident Tuesday evening.
Lyon County Deputy Zach Shafer tells KVOE News a 69-year-old man was working on a camper near First and Franklin when it rolled over him shortly before 8 pm. LifeSave airlifted the man to KU Med for treatment.
The man’s injuries are currently listed as serious but not life-threatening.
Shafer tells residents there are a few tips to keep in mind anytime you are working on or near a vehicle of any kind.

8:30 pm Tuesday: Injury crash reported in Reading
Law enforcement and rescue workers are in Reading after an injury crash Tuesday evening.
Lyon County Sheriff Jeff Cope says at least one person and one vehicle are involved after the crash was reported at First and Franklin shortly before 8 pm.
Additional details are pending. Lyon County deputies, Emporia Fire and Reading first responders are on scene. LifeSave has been called out to the scene as well.
