Reviews of policies and budgetary matters highlighted the Regional Development Association of East Central Kansas’ monthly meeting Friday morning.
According to RDA member Rob Gilligan, discussions first centred on budgetary matters and the impacts to local businesses. As KVOE reported earlier this week, the Emporia City Commission approved the 2020 budget during their action session Wednesday. Gilligan says the RDA is currently in discussions with each of its businesses to ensure they are fully aware of any changes, such as the proposed utility rate increases, which may have an impact on the businesses bottom line, especially for businesses which are large water users.
In addition, the RDA is continuing a review of their business check list. Gilligan says the review centred around any edits or changes which need to be made. He tells KVOE News RDA President Kent Heerman will be making any updates to the business check list and will have those presented during their next monthly meeting.
One executive session regarding business matters also took place, no action was taken. The RDA will reconvene next month inside the Trusler Business Center.
