All vestiges of isolated flooding from earlier this week are now gone.
The Lyon County Highway Department reopened Road 150 between N and P on Friday after it was closed due to high water Thursday. It was the only Lyon County road announced as closed after up to five inches of rainfall Wednesday and Thursday.
Isolated flooding was also noted on Kansas Highway 177 near Matfield Green and at 16th and Reaper in Coffey County. Both roads are now at normal traffic flow.
6 am Friday: Dense fog advisory issued for Greenwood County; all flood-related alerts canceled areawide
Concerns about flooding have diminished greatly since early Thursday.
Flood warnings at the county level for Chase and Greenwood counties, as well as river-based warnings for the Cottonwood River at Cottonwood Falls and Plymouth, have all been canceled. Flood watches up for the area have also been canceled.
Flooding concerns were raised after parts of the KVOE listening area got anywhere from one to over four inches of rain Wednesday and Thursday. There was a short list of flooding incidents reported across the area:
*In Lyon County, Road 150 between N and P was closed Thursday due to water over the road.
*In Chase County, Kansas Highway 177 briefly had water over the road near Matfield Green. The water has receded and highway traffic is currently normal.
*In Coffey County, 16th and Reaper was blocked due to high water but that has reopened.
Patchy fog is the main concern Friday, and it could be dense in spots. The National Weather Service has issued a dense fog advisory for Greenwood County until 9 am. Visibility could be as low as a quarter-mile. If driving, slow down. Use your low-beam headlights and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.
