Back in February, Kansas Gas Service announced a plan to install new meters in Emporia. That process is now completed, according to Communications Director Dawn Tripp.
Kansas Gas decided to install electronic meters as a way to increase efficiency and customer service by reducing the need for meter readers to stop by each customer’s property every month. Kansas gas also says the new meters will reduce monthly bills because they will provide more accurate statements.
Project costs have not been determined at this time.
This comes as Kansas Gas marks 811 Day on Sunday, and Tripp says it is vitally important for people to call the toll-free number before any digging project of any size.
Homeowners, contractors and others with digging projects need to call 811 or go online to www.kansasonecall.com at least two days before starting a project. Professional locators will then come out to the site to mark approximate locations of underground utilities with flags and spray paint.
